A unique new Egyptian exhibit opened at Berkeley's Phoebe A. Hearst
Museum yesterday, and ARCE is proud to have played a part in making it
happen.
Research by ARCE members Salima Ikram, Nathaniel Dominy and Gillian Leigh Moritz was recently featured in the UK's Independent newspaper. The team analyzed baboon mummies from the British Museum to reveal the long-disputed location of "Punt," a land of exotic riches often referred to by the ancient Egyptians.
ARCE member Dr. Kathryn Bard is among two hundred and twenty-nine leaders and visionaries to be elected Fellows of the American Academy of Arts and
Sciences, one of the nation’s oldest and most prestigious honorary societies.

A review of the Brooklyn Museum's show "To Live Forever: Art and the Afterlife of Ancient Egypt," appeared recently in the New York Times. The article features an interview with ARCE board member Kara Cooney.
A reception honoring ARCE's new book, "Preserving Egypt's Heritage: Conservation Work by the American Research Center in Egypt 1995-2005," was hosted by The Hon. Margaret Scobey, the U.S. Ambassador to Egypt, on February 10.
