December 10, 2011 - the official opening party atop ARCE's new West Bank offices.
ARCE's new premise comes with a pleasant, roof-top patio that provides splendid views of the surrounding farmers' fields and sunsets behind Medinet Habu. It gives us an ideal setting in which to host colleagues and supporters.

ARCE Fellow Irfana Hashmi Reflects on Salvaging Egypt's Treasured Archives from the Fire

On an ‘anything but normal’ work day, I went to the Egyptian National
Archives where I found the remains of thousands of manuscripts, books
and maps from the Institut d’égypte laid across its front lawns, in pick-up trucks double-parked on
the Corniche el-Nil Road, and on the floor of the lobby of the archives.
When I entered the building, I knew that I would not conduct research that day, not after seeing the activities downstairs.
Affiliate Scholars and Ministry Officials Central to the Success of ARCE Fellowship Program

Acknowledging the tremendous support for the ARCE fellowship program by
Egyptian scholars and institutions, ARCE hosted a special
reception on April 5th to honor the Egyptian Affiliate Scholars and
senior officials from the National Archives and Library, the Egyptian
Museum, the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE), and the Ministry of
Antiquities who work closely with the Fellowship Program.
LUXOR TEMPLE UPDATE - SPRING 2012
Three-thousand, five-hundred years is a long time for any building to stand, and it comes as no surprise that, today, Luxor temple is in need of some help. Many of its columns in the first court, for example, have been showing the very serious effects of exposure to the elements and prior maintenance efforts. To address these issues, ARCE began a project
in 2008 to assess and conserve the columns in the Ramesses II court. This work runs in tandem with our larger conservation initiative on the East Bank and forms part of our Egyptian conservator training program. Read More >>Connect with ARCE
