Events in Egypt

In Cairo, ARCE hosts weekly lectures on topics of historical and contemporary concern, as well as educational excursions to sites within Egypt. ARCE conducts short courses on subjects of interest to the wider public, such as Egyptology and Islamic art, and holds a series of seminars conducted in Arabic to facilitate exchange between Egyptian and foreign scholars. It convenes an annual conference in the United States at which scholars are invited to present their research findings.

ARCE sponsors a public lecture* series during the academic year (September-June) on Wednesday evenings at the Cairo Center, 2 Midan Simón Bolívar in Garden City. Lectures begin at 6:00 pm. All are welcome. *Please note that lectures are not scheduled during Ramadan.

The list below includes lectures and seminars sponsored by ARCE, other research institutes in Cairo, and the Supreme Council of Antiquities. ARCE makes every effort to ensure that the information provided by the sponsoring institutions is accurate and up to date, but is not responsible for errors or scheduling changes. Individuals are advised to contact the sponsoring institutions directly to verify dates and times.

To receive email notification of upcoming lectures and other public programs, or to update calendar listings, please contact ARCE's program coordinator, Mary Sadek.
