Tradition has it that every ten years on the decade, ARCE holds its Annual Meeting in Berkeley, California. Since our last Annual Meeting there in 2000, ARCE’s ever-expanding Annual Meetings have outgrown the hotel capacity in Berkeley. For the 2010 Meeting, we are remaining in the Bay Area, by way of Oakland.
Online registration is closed. However, onsite registration is available.

Museum Reception Friday April 23rd
We are pleased to
announce that the Phoebe A. Hearst Museum of Anthropology at the
University of California, Berkeley will co-host a reception for the
Annual Meeting attendees on Friday evening, April 23rd. Attendees will
be able to view the exhibition, The
Conservator’s Art: Preserving Egypt’s Past, made possible, in
part, by an ARCE Antiquities Endowment Fund (AEF) grant. The exhibition
spotlights the critical role conservators play in the preservation of
cultural heritage using the Hearst Museum’s collection of Egyptian
objects, the basis of which was formed by Phoebe Hearst and George
Reisner. The exhibition is dedicated to the memory of Egyptologist and
Berkeley Professor Cathleen ‘Candy’ Keller. Thanks to the efforts of the Northern California chapter, a delicious reception spread is being donated by Al-Masri, a generous Egyptian restaurant; refreshing locally-brewed beverages are being donated by Anchor Brewing Company; and entertainment is being donated by the Sausan Academy of Egyptian Dance. All three businesses are located in the San Francisco bay area. Additionally, chapter members have given a generous financial donation to help support this much anticipated event. A heartfelt thanks goes to the Northern California Chapter of ARCE!
