Washington, D.C. Chapter

Samir Gabriel, President

The ARCE Washington, DC chapter (ARCE-DC) sponsors, on average, ten free lectures and one seminar a year, plus occasional social events. We sponsor tours to Egypt and organize occasional bus trips to museums that are featuring exhibitions on Egypt. We maintain close contact with the Embassy of Egypt, which frequently provides a speaking venue for our lecturers. Our lectures are otherwise coordinated with and held at the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies.

Our chapter has approximately 100 members and the average attendance at lectures is approximately 50 people. When held at the Egyptian Embassy, the number frequently exceeds 100 attendees.

ARCE-DC publishes a comprehensive weekly e-mail Newsletter via our Chapter Members Group listserv. The Newsletter contains current articles, information and other items which should appeal to those who have an interest in Ancient Egypt.

Support for all our activities is greatly enhanced by members' contributions to our PAPYRUS Club. Donations make Papyrus Club members eligible for an annual drawing for a prize of a one-year subscription to the magazine KMT: A Modern Journal of Ancient Egypt.
